When in Need of Souveniers...try bandages

Yes these are my feet! Don't worry just minor 2nd degree burns. Add pain killers and special cream = not so much pain.

Sunday saw a group of us head out to the hot springs. We headed out with Ken and Sue Vissers and their kids (missionaries with Scripture Union) and a team of four high school guys from the states - plus the housemates and "new-girl-Megan" (that is her entire name -j/k - she arrived last week and is staying until June). After about an hour's drive - along the way which God protected us from our wheel's falling off our vehicle after they had been replaced - we arrived at the hot springs. Down some small "roads" (almost real off-roading) and down in the bush - we came upon the springs. And these things were HOT - the water was boiling in some places and others had steam gushing out of holes! After spending the afternoon swimming and jumping off of cliffs - climbing up rocks and behind waterfalls - bumps and bruises - we headed to the shore for lunch. Afterward me and some others went in search of some warmer waters downstream. I may have found the REALLY warm waters accidentally - honestly - pain like that makes me ready to throw up. I cannot IMAGINE people who have been burned all over their body. The pain must be excruciating. So I sat in the cool water of the river with my feet in it until we had to leave. When my feet were out of the water I nearly went CRAZY (the skin was peeling off already) - so we loaded up the cooler with water and placed it in the front seat of the car - into which I stuck my feet. I then rotated that with sticking my feet out of the window all the way home until I could not feel them anymore. We then proceeded to the hospital where I was met by Dr. Nasralla - who cleaned and dignosed and took care of my feet - thus the picture. Yes - that is him pretending to punch my head! So as a write my feet are up on a chair - bubbly and red - BUT I am not on painkillers! Pray that they get better!

Two things...
#1: When do I stop being "new-girl-megan"? Do I have to be the new girl all the way until June?

#2: I'm glad your feet are feeling better. Oh Dr. Nasralla..."OK, now I'll say the ouches...ouch...ouch...ouch!"

Oh no! Good thing it wasn't worse! Are you still able to get around at all?--Crutches? Here's hoping you get your feet back soon!

Dear Amanda - I feel your pain! I only burnt a small part of the back of my hand (with candle wax) but I thought we would never get to the hospital. I'm glad to hear that you're not on pain killers anymore.
In Taiwan there were hot springs and signs saying (in chinese) "Don't put your hands in the water. It is hot enough to boil and egg" (roughly translated... in actually english is sounds much worse).
I'll be praying for a quick recovery! Are you still able to teach?
I know Ken and Sue as well. They are a sweet couple (they won't know me but we support them as a church). I'm glad that you could meet up with them.
