I guess I am a PE teacher at heart...

So the last two days I have had the priviledge of teaching my high school students baseball "from scratch." I mean they knew nothing. We learned how to throw, how to catch, and how to bat. We learned that you have to run from home to first base, then to second, then to third and home. And boy did I have fun. Because they definately started out by telling me that baseball was boring - but they got into it pretty quickly. (Kind of like Ultimate Frisbee last year.)

My "ah-ha" moment came when I taught my students how to bat. No - I didn't place the ball on a stick and tell them to hit it. I pitched it to them after I showed them how to stand, how to hold the bat, and how to know when to hit the ball. And you know what? EVERYONE of my students hit the ball from a pitch - in under 5 pitches! I was/am so proud. This made me realize that I am doing the right thing.
