Learning to be the Baby ...and taking that role very seriously!

So the past 5-6 months have held a huge learning curve for me in terms of familial roles. You see, I am now the youngest, "the baby", of our household, with one other being twenty-five and the others being thirty+. I have gone from being the oldest of seven, to the youngest of four. And it is fun times! (usually, unless I am getting picked on which does happen quite often.) Here are some observations:
1) The oldest ones usually do end up being right - which has a disadvantage and an advantage. The disadvantage: is I learn the hard way they were right. The advantage: because I am wrong more often the older ones do more stuff for me!
2) I get to be immature without reason - I am after all the youngest and it is expected! I take this role very seriously.
3) I get to create all kinds of rucous and start arguments just to stir up trouble. This is fun.
4) I do get picked on by all three above me - usually at the same time. I learn to laugh at myself. This is good. (I also like to think that they are uniting at my expense - a small sacrafice to pay for familial unification ;)
5) And finally, I do not have to fix anyone else's problems. I am not the one with the most experience - I am the baby. I can chose to be oblivious to the problems of other people instead of dealing with them. After all, they have more life experience than me.

I will not reflect on all I have written from my "oldest of seven point of view" because that would probably lead me to conclude that if I was the youngest in my own family I would drive my oldest self insane.

This does go out to both of my families - enjoy:)

ps. the foot is slowly healing...I might include a picture later.

Now settle down Katharine, or I'll tell mom. Is mom prof Edith then? Or maybe Noel should be mom. :)

p.s. I'm linking to your blog so everyone can read it! Can't stop me! Nah nah nana nah!

And remember, hot water can scald in less than three seconds.

does anyone else notice who commented on my blog - my older bro and sis. Putting me in my place...aka proving my point.

Interestingly enough, the oldest sister in this family is the baby in her own family. Hmm...I wonder what she's learned about being the oldest! Plus also she's now got Canadian sibs...however is she coping?

As for the other one, while he may be the oldest, he did also say "Can't stop me! Nah nah nana nah!" Hmmm...Look at that maturity!

From the next youngest who also is used to being the oldest

haha. At least you all have your roles figured out and there's not so much sibling rivalry happening. (or none on the internet for all to see...!!) Happy ruckus-making!

Okay, speaking as a bit of an older friend to my dear Amanda, you 'olders' in the house should be a bit nice to her... so she'll know how to treat her siblings when she gets back.
Amanda... I saw that video... I'm sorry but I did have to laugh. Poor Megan the new girl. How far did she fall?

I suppose it's my turn to chime in with some motherly counsel. Wait... Amanda, you listen to the counsel or elders? You think we're right? I had to read your blog to find that out! ;-)

Much love,
Noel

PS Stopping crossing over onto my side of the car seat for pitties sake!

I am so proud of you for milking the youngest thing!! It's a great place to be. I've been doing it for 24 years and it never gets old!
