You (also) need to read...

While myself and many others spent our childhood growing up in the freedom of North American society, without the worries of family members disappearing in the night, people watching and listening for 'slips of the tongue' against the government, and most importantly, with the ability and opportunity to dream of the future without reference to the whims and cruelty of others - there were those across the world who lived with this reality. Children who did not know if the security of their life would be shattered by the manic. Parents who could only hope that their children had the courage to dream outside themselves.

I just finished this book:

and I realized how priviledged I AM. This book shares the story of a woman who was thrown into prison and tortured - and her vow to share the stories of other women and prisoners under Saddam Hussein. I could not read it before bed - the evilness of the human heart did not leave me in any state to sleep. But it opens my eyes : this is STILL going on!!! Ignorance is not going to change the world - it can only stifle the human spirit because it ignores the truth. So, read it.
