Last week I had the chance to do a bit of travelling because it was our exam week and since I teach PE there are no exams. So Monday afternoon we took a 7 hour bus ride to Trujillo (up north and east) to see a bit more of Honduras. While this little town (and that is what it was) has some great history - and I was really excited to see the historical fort - in the end there really was nothing to see. A few cannons and some stone walls and a great view. Note: Hondurans also pay a third of the price to get into things (and sometimes even less) and although we live here they charge us the white price.
So we took off for a place just outside of town - really in the middle of nowhere and hung out there for a few days. Although windy (which meant not very good snorkelling - there was sun. So we spent a leisurely day and a half moving from our beds, to the hammock, to the beach, to the dining room, to the hammock - generally reclining and taking it easy. Boy it was a much needed time to be refreshed

before starting the other half of the year.As one of our travellers was on a low budget we ended up hitch hiking back to La Ceiba. (Not encouraged in this area because of the high drug traffic - but definately fun! Oh and don't tell mom or dad.) Just make sure you have a lot of time. Four rides later - and 5 hours past (usually 2 driving) we ended up in La Ceiba where we met Brian.

If you come to Honduras - you need to go see it. A boat ride to most of the islands, two snorkelling stops, lunch on a Garifuna island (northern culture here - coconut milk so is REALLY good), and white sandy beaches with water as blue a
