Amanda & the Whale

(yes this is a scary picture but it represents EXACTLY how I felt - excited, emotional, VERY sleep deprived, anxious, overstimulated, and with an unwashed face)

Sometimes I feel like airplanes are the modern day whale from the story of Jonah. Yesterday I flew back to Honduras - and on the way I had many conflicting emotions. The selfish part of me wanted to crawl back in my bed in Canada and stay there; stay among people who know me; amidst a culture that I understand and am a part of (sort of). But the flip side is that I know that God is calling me to where I am going - and if I had any doubts He just decides to spoil me.

1) I got upgraded randomly to first class. I boarded my second plane of the day to find my seat of 29D already taken by a large Latino man. So too were filled all the other 180 seats in the plane but two. The stewardess beckoned me to follow her - and I was led to a plush seat in first class. (You can actually see the seat in the picture above.) I was like a little kid - I had to take a picture of my meal. There were even two courses!
2) As I was sitting in the lap of luxery and the plane was about to move a little cart skids up to just under my window and I see and familiar suitcase on it...MINE! It just made it - and all my luggage was there when we arrived.
3) I am four US dollars richer thanks to the money I found on the bathroom floor in Houston.
And so, now I am here. Thank God for His care of me so far. Please pray for me to adjust, to sleep, and for my school prep this year as we have one week to get prepared.

That is a very scary photo of you Van Hoffle Hoffle!

Good to have you back - even if you do look scary and think an aeroplane is a whale...2 months back in Canada and you're confused again...I'll get the Britishness back in you soon enough!!!! xx

I'm glad that you got back safely... I didn't even get to see you when you were back (I tried to invite myself over to Kim & Derek's but they wanted you to themselves).
