Educational Trips....not just for students but also for teachers...

So early Thursday morning, 4:30am (which means 5:00 Honduran time) 24 grade 7 and 8 students, along with 6 very tired teachers set off for the four hour journey to Copan Ruinas (Mayan Ruins) for a three day - two night eduational trip. Three days and three nights later - here I sit writing this email as I recover from the lack of sleep and the very real understanding of just how much I need my time away from my students. (I love them all ....but I do need some space). So here are some of the highlights of the trip - more in the form of a Master Card commercial. (And as my new computer is behaving weirdly I don't have any photos to show right now.)

Chocolate bar for self to celebrate Valentines Day: $1

Calling home to hear friends' voices: $3

Having your student try to set you up with any single guy on the street while you are standing right there: priceless

Breakfast: $4

Souvenirs: $15

Going on a high speed motor-taxi race through Copan late at night with screaming students: priceless.

Educational Trip Inclusive Price : $25

Getting into the Mayan Ruins: $15

Telling your student to answer your room phone with "Americano Esspreso. Can I take your order?" (in Spanish) and having your boss be the next person to phone: Priceless
