Scorched hair...

Well- yesterday I had a little bit of an accident. See the stoves here use gas - and so you have to light both the burners and the oven. I feel like maybe you can tell what is coming... So, I lit a match and turned on the oven to light it....it lit and then I closed the oven door. When I checked a few minutes later it was no longer lit. I turned off the gas and waited with the door open - it turns out that I did not wait long enough...for when I lit the match a second time the entire tray blew - and maybe I scorched a bit of my hand and burned my arm hair off my right arm. Yes, I know - I was stupid and should have waited WAY longer and waved the gas away. I have learned....and I amVERY thankful that it was not face (my eyebrows are still intact.) My hand was bandaged over night and the skin is a little sensitive - but it's fine now. However, the place between my index and middle finger has a nice blister...and my two fingers are taped together as a write this. It should be fine...the moral is - don't bake on Saturday.

Might be a good science lesson...about gases and flammable stuff and safety issues...:P

I can just see the headlines in the Crown:
"FORMER REDEEMER STUDENT INVOLVED IN HONDURAN SELF-IMMOLATION INCIDENT" or maybe "OVER-EAGER ROOKIE SCIENCE TEACHER BLOWS UP NEIGHBOURHOOD IN EXPERIMENT WITH HOMEMADE BUNSEN BURNER"

Good thing you're only a bit scorched and not nigh cremated.

Hey Amanda,
I had to chuckle when I read this. I mean, I'm glad that you're okay but it is kind of funny. Just be more careful, we'd like to see you here again one day.
